Senior I&IT Project Manager (Data & Integrations)

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

This role provides end to end project management services for I&IT projects and programs using Lean-Agile Methodology and the 4D (Decide-Design-Deliver-Deploy) process; responsible for setting up the vision of the project, maintaining transparency, and creating a shared understanding of what “Done” looks like; responsible for schedule management, engineering quality, financial accountability, project deliverables and communications; responsible for creating a forward-thinking culture of success; ensures compliance with Metrolinx’ s policies and mandates.

What will I be doing?

• Leads, activities related to project scope, definition, risk management, and quality assurance to ensure projects deliver expected outcomes

• Performs complete start to close-out project management on complex projects to ensure projects meet defined objectives, scope, budget, and timelines

• Develops and delivers reports and presentations defining plans, issues, status, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management

• Proactively manages risks pertaining to I&IT Delivery for Metrolinx.

• Identifies, assesses and communicates delivery risks and contributes to infrastructure and applications services planning.

• Leads and partners with vendors to deliver agreed business and solution outcomes

• Delivers accurate forecasts and budgets by ensuring that all project cost and scheduled activities are identified, continuously monitored, and clarifications/changes managed properly to maintain adherence to schedule and budget

• Manages Scrum Teams (8-10 people), Scrum of Scrums and acts as the single point of contact for any issues with project delivery.

• Effectively communicates daily/weekly status, risks (using Coleman grid), issues, roadblocks resolution & escalation

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent

• Demonstrated experience in Agile Project Management including experience as a Scrum Master, Project Manager and/or Product Owner.

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project and other recognized Project Management Tools

• Experience of large complex transformational projects and multiple simultaneous projects.

• Experienced in facilitation, conflict resolution, influencing, executive communication and stakeholder management.

• Recognized certification in Project management, Scrum Master, Lean, Agile and/or Scaled Agile (SAFe).

• Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications

• Knowledge of program management, planning, budgeting, prioritization, risk and change management principles, methods, and techniques to manage the development, deployment, and implementation of medium scale fare system/program initiatives

• Budget management experience to prepare project budgets and monitor within budgetary limits

• Effective written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills to articulate and present advice, options and recommendations to senior management and business clients on projects and technology solutions.
