Job Description: The Occupational Therapist - Degree is responsible for a clinical caseload and provides direct care to clients within the Autism program. The Occupational Therapist - Degree is required to provide appropriate assessment and treatment interventions to clients referred and is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of prescribed interventions with appropriate adjustment or discontinuation of service based on outcome measurement. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

  • Experience working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder is an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Commitment to continued learning and professional development.
  • Requires coping skills to work w/clients dealing with stress/psychosocial issues
  • Background of assessment and intervention of sensory processing is an asset
  • Requires concentration and attention for treatment, teaching and report writing
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Require initiative/judgment to plan/apply/alter programs per client/program need
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to plan, organize/coordinate efforts with other team members
