Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Rapid Transit Operations Department is looking for a Director, Integrated Management Systems to join our dynamic team! You will be accountable for the leadership and delivery of the RT Operations Quality Management System, and the implementation of environmental and oversight programs. What will I be doing?

  • Support the Executive in leading the design of policies, standards and process to execute the overall quality management strategy, while serving as a centre of excellence and subject matter expert to streamline and optimize quality processes across RT Operations.
  • Lead and oversee a team of quality, environmental, document control, risk and compliance specialists.
  • Design, advance and oversee quality, environment, and safety assurance and compliance programs.
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with corporate frameworks, goals and policies, when developing and implementing processes and programs for quality management, document control and environmental and safety assurance for the scope of RT Operations;
  • Act as a subject matter expert in support of developing performance measurements, continual improvement initiatives, quality management and compliance in alignment with TTC’s LRT Quality Management System;
  • Ensure appropriate processes are in place, advise senior leadership on gaps, and develop action plans to remediate.
  • Consult, collaborate, and build strong partnerships with key partners to support and promote a strong quality culture.
  • Accountable to ensure that quality objectives are met, and that anticipated business results are achieved.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in engineering/business administration/data analytics or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and management of quality and environmental management systems, in particular management systems based on ISO 9001 and 14001 standards;
  • Advanced knowledge in the management of quality assurance, quality control, quality system audits, continual improvement processes, project management, practices and techniques;
  • Must possess sound judgement, well-developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills to manage large amounts of information;
  • Experience with or ability to quickly understand and interpret contractual documents (i.e. Operating & Maintenance Agreements, Project Agreements etc.);
  • Experience in documentation and process design techniques, process improvement methodologies, and document management;
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and (verbal and written) communication skills to interface with multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Ability to manage relationships across stakeholders and apply appropriate political acuity in day to day interactions;
  • Highly developed leadership, supervisory, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate staff and effectively manage the performance of a large group of employees;
