Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Integrated Delivery Office is looking for a Manager, Property Management. This role provides leadership over property operations, capital projects, vendor performance, portfolio optimization, risk management, and compliance activities. The successful candidate manages a team of internal and/or external real estate professionals and, working collaboratively with other divisions across the organization, delivers on a variety of corporate realty objectives, including portfolio management oversight, portfolio review and procurement and management of vendors of record.

What will I be doing?

  • Provides oversight in property management, capital projects, asset protection and security, maintenance, and building demolitions
  • Oversees the management of the outsourced property management services contract, including “Base Management Services” and ad-hoc “Project Management Services” assignments
  • Ensures that properties are adequately secured and risk mitigation plans are in place.
  • Manages work related to:
    • Procurement support activities
    • Invoice verification & processing
    • Reporting and related dashboards
    • Overall management of capital and construction project
    • Internal stakeholder engagement
  • Leads collaborative effort with various stakeholders to identify and mitigate financial, environmental, and reputational risks relating to property management and security
  • Prepares and reviews approval authorization memos and briefing materials; prepares, manages, and regularly updates operating and capital budgets, for the Director, Senior Management Team and the Board, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with the Province's Realty Directive, and Metrolinx's Realty Policy and Contract Approval Authorization and Document Execution Policy with full accountability for compliance outcomes

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate real estate; public sector experience is considered an asset
  • AACI or PMP accreditation would be an asset
  • Knowledge of/expertise in a variety of real estate transactions including leases, licenses, easements, and dispositions with a variety of key players including ministries and government agencies, municipalities, utilities and telecommunication providers.
  • Leadership/senior level management oversight of a high performing team internally and externally as applicable
  • Financial oversight experience to ensure teams are meeting objectives within budget and cost effectively
  • Understanding of realty governance processes to ensure that transactions are conducted in a fair, open and transparent manner
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal and mentoring skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative ideas and direction to staff and/or vendors
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Relationship building with senior level stakeholders in private sector corporations, land development organizations, government organizations and communities.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources legislation (ex. Employment Standards Act) and experience working with collective agreements. Improvement initiatives
