The Opportunity

As a Lead/Senior Advisor, GHG and Decarbonisation, you will be a member of the ESG, Nature and Climate strategic advisory team in Canada, focused on advancing sustainability and impactful transformation across diverse sectors. In this role, you will provide expert guidance on decarbonization and GHG accounting for public and private sector clients. You will lead and manage climate advisory projects, deliver high-quality strategic deliverables, and contribute to the development of innovative service offerings, helping drive the firm’s growth and market positioning.

Your Impact

Project delivery:

Act as Project Director on complex GHG and decarbonization mandates for public and private clients in various industries (Real estate and buildings, Mining, Financial sector, Transportation, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Governments) and regions (primarily North America, potentially other regions like Europe, Africa or Oceania). Examples of common mandates include:

Corporate GHG inventories (Scopes 1, 2 and 3), including financed emissions

Scope 3 screening and supplier/customer engagement strategies and initiatives

Operational and supply chain decarbonization strategies, and net-zero pathways (SBTi-aligned where relevant)

Act as a mentor and leader to advisors and analysts, driving team capability-building through coaching, knowledge transfer, and oversight, while ensuring excellence and consistency in the delivery of complex GHG and decarbonization mandates.

Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and quality in alignment with project requirements while also liaising with client stakeholders and WSP’s technical experts.

Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

Work alongside other climate change and sustainability subject matter experts at WSP in various regions to drive project execution and ensure project delivery.

Act as an internal subject matter expert in GHG accounting and decarbonisation. Support the evolution of methodologies, tools and scalable offerings and stay at the forefront of market practices and regulatory developments.

Business development and growth:

Under the leadership of the team’s Senior Manager:

Contribute actively to the implementation and monitoring of the team's decarbonisation go-to-market strategy.

Leverage internal and external professional networks to open doors and support opportunity origination.

Support the growth of the team and the development of new and innovative service offerings and revenue streams in alignment with our strategy.

Support business development activities, including contributing to proposals and developing complex and cross-disciplinary scopes of work for our clients.

Building a strong internal and international WSP network, promoting our team’s positioning, services and achievements.

Support and contribute creatively to our marketing efforts and produce high-value marketing content.

Technical leadership:

Act as an internal subject matter expert in GHG accounting and decarbonisation. Provide guidance on:

GHG Protocol (Scopes 1, 2, 3), PCAF

Data collection and management strategies and estimations methods, across scopes

Target-setting (e.g., SBTi)

Emissions scenario development

Climate transition planning

Support the evolution of methodologies, tools and scalable offerings.

Communicate latest and best market practices and regulatory developments to the team and to clients, ensuring such information is integrated into team processes and service delivery.

What you will bring to WSP:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Min 10+ years of relevant experience in GHG accounting, corporate and supply chain decarbonization strategy, climate advisory.
  • Proven experience acting as Project Director or Senior Project Manager on complex mandates.
  • Strong technical expertise in GHG accounting, data management, corporate and supply chain decarbonization approaches, relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, PCAF, IS0 14064, SBTi).
  • Strong commitment to team development, with demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching analysts and advisors, and contributing to building team capability and knowledge transfer.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to business development and client relationship growth.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strategic thinking and strong appetite for business development, business and go-to-market strategy development. Ability to combine technical skills with strategic advisory.
  • Responsible and efficient – you know how to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work product with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills - you’re able to easily articulate ideas and build relationships with peers and clients through presentations and other forms of engagement.

MB & ON : 95 000 $ - 130 800 $
