Job Description: Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily adult community mental health and addiction population. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

  • 1 year recognized postgraduate experience in community MHAS

  • Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies

  • Able to work independently in a self motivated manner & respond under pressure
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
  • Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships
  • Knowledge in various mental health and addiction and harm reduction strategies
  • Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
  • Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner.

  • Must have current practicing registration with SASW.
  • Valid driver's license, where required
