Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides assessment and treatment to patients referred for Speech-Language Pathology services. The Senior Speech-Language Pathologist supervises and promotes all activities within the area of Speech-Language Pathology to ensure that patients referred to that service receive high quality speech-language pathology intervention and that students assigned to that service receive high quality clinical education."Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education
- Master of Speech Language Pathology (SLP)
Experience
- Two (2) years experience in Acute Care
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in program/resource development
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to promote a collaborative and team approach
- Knowledge of speech and language development/disorders and diagnostics
- Leadership abilities to provide direction to staff speech language pathologists
- Significant experience in adult population in context of complex medical needs
- Requires coping skills to work w/clients dealing with stress/psychosocial issues
- "Ability to work independently to plan and prioritize workload demands. "
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Can design, conduct, evaluate educational training to various targeted audiences
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with employees
- Knowledge & experience of diagnostic instruments: MBS and FEES (once trained)
- Ability to assess and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders

- Experience working in an interdisciplinary team environment an asset
