THE ROLEImagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months delivering exercise and reconditioning services to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations from across the world. As a deployed Reconditioning Specialist team member, you are not just delivering these critical services, but enhancing the overall morale and welfare of all the troops deployed.
The Reconditioning Specialist is part of an enthusiastic team of adventurous individuals who enjoy meaningful employment and contributing in a team-based, land-based environment. Excited by the opportunity to deploy as a civilian among our CAF personnel abroad, you are a team player in a fast-paced setting. You are able to adapt to new challenges in an ever-changing dynamic environment.
You will have the opportunity to work with a very highly motivated and professional clientele who are eager to improve their condition. You will lead reconditioning programs for Canadian Armed Forces members who may be affected with a medical condition and improve their functional abilities related to their limitations. You will have expertise in designing specific programs and services that support reconditioning and prevent future injury.
Being a subject matter expert in your field, you will support your local team in providing training and professional development and provide overall management of the program. You will assist partners promoting healthy practices and injury prevention through initiatives such as educational programs, special events and other activities related to physical fitness.
In addition, the Reconditioning Specialist assists with recreational activities and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy, balanced lives.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences or a related field
Current Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) and First Aid certification
A Valid driver's license (Province)
Canadian citizenship
Must have a valid Canadian passport
Experience
In the development, coordination, research, planning and delivery of reconditioning, physical fitness programming, motor skill development, evaluation protocols and exercise prescription
In providing fitness counseling to clients with physical and/or mental injuries
In referring clients requiring lifestyle, supplementary medical assessments or medical advice to services providers
In coordinating and leading physical fitness evaluations and baseline testing techniques for individuals with chronic metabolic and/or musculoskeletal disorders or injuries
In researching, designing and conducting physical fitness education sessions
In data collection, data assessment, case management and report writing
In reviewing assessments of medical providers on physiological, physical or occupational limitations and restrictions and physical fitness plans and developing recommendations for medical providers on reconditioning, physical fitness programming, motor skill development, evaluation protocols and exercise prescription
In coordinating with external services regarding client/patient progress and providing recommendationsfor client progression
In researching, preparing and delivering reports
In establishing, fostering, and sustaining partnerships with a network of professional contacts in the local community and external organizations
In the provision of oral and written communications for professional and public audiences
In the research, development, conduction and promotion of health, wellness and fitness education training and facilitation of workshops
In the facilitation of briefings on specialized topics for adult audiences
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
