Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered
• Measure, cut, and fasten underlay and underpadding
• Prepare flooring plans and scheduling
• Measure, cut, and install carpeting on floors
• Prepare tenders and quotations
• Install resilient floor coverings and hardwood floors
• Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings
• Conduct moisture, pH, temperature, and other tests prior to flooring installations
• Estimate costs and materials
• Prepare floors for installations and remove existing coverings
• Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces
• Employ knee kickers and other equipment for carpet stretching
• Perform various installation techniques including direct glue-down and double-bond installations
• Install outdoor carpets and resilient stair components
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications

Installation Specialization

• Vinyl or resilient tiles
• Ceramic, marble, and terrazzo tiles
