In this permanent position, you will play a vital role in supporting young individuals in a group home setting and in their own homes. Work Schedule

  • Hours: 12 to 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

As a Child and Youth Worker, your tasks will include:

  • Preparing reports or case histories
  • Conducting social research and implementing life skills workshops
  • Assessing clients' skill strengths and development needs
  • Coordinating and delivering specific services within the community
  • Providing crisis intervention and resolving conflict situations
  • Supervising activities of clients in group homes and during parental visits
  • Assisting clients with special needs and accompanying them to appointments
  • Implementing behavior management programs and evaluating treatment effectiveness
  • Performing housekeeping and food preparation activities

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: College/CEGEP
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years in a related field or equivalent experience

    • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
    • Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR
    • Intensive Behavioural Intervention Certification
    • Mandt System Training
    • Mental Health First Aid Certificate
    • Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
    • Cultural Awareness Training
    • Medication Administration Certificate
    • First Aid Certificate
    • CPR Certificate
    • Food Safety Certificate

Work Environment

You will be working in a child welfare environment, primarily in:

  • Group homes
