About the Role

Transcona Jaycees Day Care Centre Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E.) to join our vibrant team. This temporary position offers a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week, where you will play a crucial role in the development and well-being of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that foster children's growth.
  • Lead engaging activities, including storytelling, singing, and excursions to local points of interest.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain records and assist in keeping track of children's progress.
  • Encourage creativity through art, music, and physical activities.
  • Guide children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms for lunch and rest periods.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents and supervisors.

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.

Qualifications

  • Education: College/CEGEP or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years in a similar role.
  • Certifications: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate.
  • Experience with special needs children: Familiarity with children with asthma is preferred.
  • Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, Vulnerable sector check.
  • Transportation: Own transportation and vehicle preferred; public transportation is available.

  • Noisy and air-conditioned setting.
