Department Manager at Aldred Restaurants Ltd (dba McDonald’s Comox Valley)

We are more than just your local McDonald's—we are a proud, locally owned and operated business on Vancouver Island. With six McDonald's restaurants in our organization, we’re passionate about serving the people we know and love, and giving back to the places we call home. We’re more than a restaurant; we’re an active part of the local landscape, constantly engaging in local events, supporting local initiatives, and fostering a sense of connection. Our team members are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re committed to ensuring they grow, thrive, and succeed.

As part of our team, you’ll be joining our McFamily - dedicated to serving exceptional customer service and having a positive impact on every guest that visits our restaurants. Our commitment to the local community and our people creates a unique, family-like culture that’s supportive, passionate, and rewarding.

The starting salary based on experience is $52,000 annually, along with a fantastic perk / additional benefits program that includes: annual bonus program, employer RRSP matching, extended health benefits, wellness spending account and much more. Previous McDonald’s experience is not required — we provide a comprehensive paid training program to set you up for success. However, managerial experience in the service industry is strongly preferred.

What working with us means:

At our locally owned and operated McDonald's, we offer much more than just a job. Here, you’ll have the chance to grow professionally while enjoying a flexible and inclusive environment. As a Department Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of a key area of the restaurant—whether it’s People, Guest Experience, Kitchen, or Facilities. You’ll lead your department’s success by developing your team, improving processes, driving results, and creating exceptional experiences for both guests and employees. In this role, you will benefit from:

  • Access to education and skills development opportunities that will take you further
  • A total rewards/perks package that includes discounts, incentives, and recognition perks
  • A safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace
  • An authentic, welcoming environment where all individuals—no matter their age, background, or culture—are celebrated, just like the guests we serve every day
  • Being a key part of a team that makes a difference in the community through local events and outreach

The job

You probably already have a good idea of what working with us is like, but here's a closer look at some of the highlights of your role as Department Manager:

  • Inspiring and leading a team that embodies pride, excellence, and the delivery of world-class service
  • Ensuring a safe, secure, and clean environment for your guests, team, and yourself
  • Managing and guiding Crew Members to success through coaching, feedback, and development
  • Taking ownership of your department’s operations, including responsibilities such as creating crew schedules, ordering products and supplies, and implementing processes that support restaurant success
  • Serving as a key assistant to the General Manager by supporting restaurant operations, leading teams, and helping execute business goals
  • Actively participating in local community events that contribute to the vibrancy and growth of the area
  • Upholding McDonald’s renowned cleanliness and operational standards
  • Driving sales and profits—building both the business and your professional and financial value

Your vibe and experience

While experience in food service or retail is helpful, what matters most is who you are.

You lead by example, hold yourself and your team to high standards, and continuously raise the bar. When challenges arise, you approach them with confidence and an eye for solutions. Above all, you know that putting people first creates a positive culture, which leads to happier, more engaged staff, and ultimately, a better experience for your guests.
