Through meaningful relationships, programs, and community partnerships, we help young people discover hope, belonging, and purpose.We are seeking a team player and people-person to join our Café Connect team to support our all aspects of the Café including food preparation, customer service, cash/point of sale and operations.
Position SummaryThe Café Connect Team Member plays an important role in providing excellent customer service and supporting the day-to-day operations of the café. This position assists with food preparation, customer service, cash handling, cleanliness, and general café operations while helping maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Service
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages according to café standards and food safety requirements.
  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, packaging, and presentation.
  • Ensure food handling, storage, and preparation procedures are followed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of supply needs.
Customer Service
  • Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Take customer orders and answer questions about menu items.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting customer service area.
  • Address customer concerns appropriately and seek assistance when necessary.
Cash Handling & Point of Sale
  • Operate the cash register and point-of-sale system accurately.
  • Process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
  • Balance transactions and follow established cash-handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales and receipts as required.
Café Operations
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food preparation, service, dining, and storage areas.
  • Wash dishes, sanitize equipment, and complete routine cleaning tasks.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines and workplace policies.
Team Participation
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
  • Support the mission and ministry activities of YFC London.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and food handling procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous food service or customer service experience is considered an asset.
