PROGRAM QUALITY AND IMPACT ADVISOR

ABOUT YOUYou are a seasoned international development practitioner who has spent years in the trenches of MEAL systems, gender equality programming, or technical design — and you're ready to shape strategy, not just execute it. You think in frameworks and systems, but you never lose sight of the people behind the data.
You believe communities should define their own success, not have it defined for them. You're equally comfortable drafting a results framework for a Global Affairs Canada proposal and sitting with a community group as they interpret their own data. You can translate complexity into clarity. You're a builder at heart: energized by designing tools, systems, and processes where none yet exist, and by mentoring others as FH Canada grows its technical capacity. You hold high standards for program quality and an equally high commitment to humility, active listening, and continuous learning.
THE JOBReporting to the VP of International Programs, the Program Quality and Impact Advisor is FH Canada's subject matter expert on MEAL, gender equality, and program quality — central to our 2030 Strategic Plan and our IP Compass principles of community-centred, gender equitable, and results-focused work. In this role, you will:

• Program Quality & Technical Leadership: advise the International Programs team and partners on program quality and design; build MEAL systems grounded in ethical data practices; and champion gender equitable, community-led approaches to program design, implementation, and evaluation.
• Knowledge Translation & Resource Mobilization: turn technical findings into clear insights for partners, leadership, and donors; and lead technical development of institutional grant proposals, including GAC-funded theories of change and results frameworks.
• Learning & External Engagement: drive thought leadership and inter-partner learning; staying current on best practices in international development, MEAL, and gender equality.
• Culture & Collaboration: champion FH Canada's purpose and values, contribute to a connected remote-first culture, and model the community-centred values we expect in our programming.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Master's degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Public Health,, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in international development, with significant focus on program quality, human-centred design, technical design, MEAL, and/or gender equality.
• Demonstrated experience applying participatory or community-led program approaches — including community-based data collection and community accountability mechanisms. Experience in this emerging area is an asset; genuine commitment to community-led practice is equally valued.
• Demonstrated experience designing and building new processes, tools, and systems from the ground up, and translating strategy into practical frameworks where none yet exist.
• Familiarity with Canadian charitable regulations and institutional donor requirements (e.g., Global Affairs Canada) is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including clear technical reports and engaging workshop facilitation.
• Previous supervisory and team leadership experience is an asset.
• Fluency in a secondary language used in FH program regions is considered a significant asset.
• Highly proficient with digital tools and platforms, with the ability to quickly learn and leverage new software to improve workflows, and provide technical assistance and capacity building to diverse partners
• Alignment with and commitment to FH Canada's mission and values, including the FH Canada Statement of Faith.

THE DETAILS

• Location/Hours: This is a full-time, fully remote position open to candidates based anywhere in Canada. Core business hours are 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. PT, with flexibility for start and end times to accommodate international time zones. In-person attendance is required for semi-annual team Summits, training sessions, or project needs, with notice provided whenever possible.
• Travel: Willing and able to travel globally up to 8 weeks annually to FH-supported communities and partner locations, sometimes on short notice. A valid passport is required.
• Compensation: $80,000- $85,000 annually, based on level of education and experience. A full suite of additional benefits include full employer paid medical, dental, RRSP matching, and generous paid time off.
