IT Technician (Help Desk & Device Support) Department Information Technology Reports To Reports to: IT Administrator Direct Reports Part-Time, 12-Month FTE 0.6–0.8 FTE Salary Range $48,000 – $62,000 CAD per year (based on full-time 1 FTE).

POSITION SUMMARY The IT Technician is the first point of contact for technology support across Richmond Christian School's three campuses, serving staff, students, and administration. This role provides Tier 1–2 help desk support, manages device provisioning and classroom technology, and assists the IT Administrator with operational IT tasks. The IT Technician travels regularly between campuses on a scheduled rotation and escalates complex issues to the IT Administrator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Help Desk & End-User Support (Tier 1–2)
  • Serve as the primary contact for all staff, student, and administration technology requests and issues.
  • Log, triage, and resolve support tickets using the school's IT ticketing system.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the IT Administrator (Tier 3) with complete documentation.
  • Provide friendly, patient, and prompt support in keeping with the school's service culture.
  • Respond to urgent support requests in a timely manner across all three campuses.
Device Setup, Deployment & Lifecycle Management
  • Set up, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and iOS devices for staff and students.
  • Manage device enrollment in MDM systems (Microsoft Intune and JAMF) under the direction of the IT Administrator.
  • Assist with student device programs including Chromebook, iPad, and laptop provisioning.
  • Perform device repairs, reimaging, and hardware replacements as required.
  • Maintain accurate device inventory records and asset tracking.
Classroom & AV Technology
  • Maintain and support classroom technology including projectors, displays, Apple TVs, speakers, and interactive panels.
  • Set up and support AV equipment for school events, chapels, assemblies, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with teaching staff to ensure classroom technology is functional and ready for instruction.
  • Manage printer and peripheral setup, maintenance, and consumables across all campuses.
Onboarding & Offboarding Support
  • Execute staff and student onboarding workflows: account creation, device allocation, and access provisioning (as directed by IT Administrator).
  • Process offboarding tasks: account deactivation, device recovery, and access removal.
  • Maintain documentation for onboarding/offboarding procedures.
Physical Infrastructure & Campus Support
  • Assist with cable management, labeling, patch panel organization, and server room tidiness.
  • Support basic physical security systems (access card issuance, CCTV basic monitoring) under IT Administrator direction.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of campus technology to proactively identify issues.
Documentation & Inventory
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all assigned hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Document common troubleshooting steps, FAQs, and procedures for the IT knowledge base.
  • Assist the IT Administrator with audits of devices, licenses, and software.
Website & Communications Support
  • Assist the Communications Coordinator with routine website content updates and edits.
  • Support digital signage and school communication platforms as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS Required
  • Diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 1–3 years of hands-on IT support or help desk experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and iOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Valid BC driver's licence and willingness to travel between campuses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; patience and professionalism when supporting students and non-technical staff.
  • Agreement with and commitment to Richmond Christian School's Christian mission and values.
Preferred / Assets
  • CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
  • Experience with Apple devices and JAMF or similar MDM.
  • Experience working in a school or educational environment.
  • Familiarity with AV equipment setup and support.
  • Awareness of FOIPPA and responsible student data handling practices.

CAMPUS ROTATION & SCHEDULING The IT Technician is expected to rotate across all three Richmond Christian School campuses on a scheduled basis (e.g., Campus A on Monday/Tuesday, Campus B on Wednesday, Campus C on Thursday/Friday, with flexibility as operational needs require). This is a daytime, Monday–Friday role. Occasional after-hours availability may be required for campus events or scheduled deployments.
