POSITION TITLE:
Rural Huddle Wellness Program Facilitator (Part-Time, 15 hrs/week)
Time Required
  • Part-time position averaging 15 hours per week.
  • Regular in-person hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for group programming, with remaining hours scheduled flexibly in coordination with the team.

Length of Commitment
  • This is a part time position September 2026 – April 2029

DescriptionThe Rural Huddle Wellness Program Facilitator will be part of the Westman Integrated Youth Service (WIYS) hub network, supporting youth and young adults (ages 12–29) in Russell and surrounding communities.
Working alongside the existing Peer Supporter and the Service Navigator, this position focuses on co-leading wellness groups, helping create welcoming and engaging environments, building positive relationships with participants, and supporting the continued growth of Rural Huddle programming. This role is ideal for a mature, community-minded individual who enjoys working with youth and young adults and is passionate about promoting wellness and connection.Huddle provides access to mental and physical health, addictions, financial, employment, cultural/spiritual supports, and opportunities for community connection. The Wellness Group Facilitator helps participants engage in meaningful activities, develop healthy relationships, and connect with Huddle services and community resources when appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Group Facilitation and Participant Engagement (70%)
  • Co-lead weekly Huddle Wellness Groups in Russell alongside the Peer Supporter.
  • Co-lead the monthly Huddle Wellness Group in Rossburn.
  • Occasionally assist with Middle Years lunchtime wellness groups in Russell as programming needs arise.
  • Help assist with transportation for the wellness groups.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment where participants feel valued and connected.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating wellness activities, life-skills sessions, recreational opportunities, and community-building events.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with participants while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Encourage participation, belonging, and healthy social connections among youth and young adults.
  • Support outreach and participant engagement within rural communities, including occasional presentations or information sharing.
  • Work collaboratively with the Peer Supporter and Service Navigator to ensure programming reflects participant needs and interests.

Program Development and Community Collaboration (15%)
  • Contribute ideas for new wellness activities and group programming.
  • Assist in evaluating programs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support community engagement efforts and help strengthen relationships with local schools, agencies, and community organizations.
  • Participate in the continued development of Rural Huddle programming in Russell, Rossburn, and surrounding communities.
Administration (5%)
  • Maintain timely and accurate program documentation and attendance records as required.
  • Complete required reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Follow Huddle/WYFC policies, confidentiality standards, and health and safety procedures.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces.
Meetings (5%)
  • Meet regularly with the supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings, planning meetings, and training sessions as directed.
Professional Development (5%)
  • Participate in ongoing training related to youth engagement, trauma-informed practice, mental wellness, and group facilitation.
  • Engage in reflective practice and consultation to support quality programming and personal growth.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A genuine interest in supporting the well-being of youth and young adults.
  • Experience working with youth, young adults, families, or community programs is preferred.
  • Experience in education, human services, recreation, child and youth care, social services, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Comfortable leading or co-facilitating groups and engaging participants through interactive activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Warm, approachable, dependable, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Cultural humility and an understanding of Indigenous communities, the impacts of colonization and residential schools, and traditional approaches to healing and wellness.
  • Awareness of newcomer experiences and community supports is an asset.
  • Understanding of inclusive practices for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.
  • Experience working with individuals living with disabilities is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for travel within the Russell/Rossburn region is an asset. (All mileage related to the position is paid)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry Check (or ability to obtain).
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Huddle/WYFC.

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Primarily in-person service delivery in Russell, including weekly wellness groups.
  • Monthly travel to Rossburn to support wellness programming.
  • Occasional participation in Middle Years lunchtime wellness programming in Russell.
  • Flexible scheduling for remaining hours based on program and participant needs.
