POSITION SUMMARY:The Research Scientist Associate will support materials synthesis, characterization, and evaluation efforts while learning foundational lab safety, collaborative teamwork, and research documentation practices in a dynamic R&D environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform synthesis and analysis of cathode materials.
  • Work with engineers, technicians, and company leaders to scale and commercialize Nano One technology.
  • Interpret and report on results from various analytical techniques.
  • Establishes process/structure/function relationships as they relate to the commercialization of Nano One’s technology.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test electrochemical cell for performance and durability.
  • Conduct physical characterization of nanoscale materials using a variety of techniques.
  • Support lab organization and contribute to the upkeep of equipment and safety protocols.
  • Learn and adhere to lab safety practices and company policies.
  • Seek and follow guidance of more senior team members to learn best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Recent graduate in chemistry, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or related field.
  • Good laboratory work practice as well as competency in data analysis and report writing.
  • Experience working in a collaborative R&D team environment.
  • Hands-on experience with tools, laboratory apparatus and analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry and related characterization techniques is a plus.
  • Proficiency in the principles and techniques for a range of methods in materials characterization (e.g. XRD, TGA/DSC, SEM, PSA, EDX, FTIR, CV, ICP-OES, CHN analyzers) would be an asset.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
