POSITION SUMMARY:
We are actively looking for a Battery Technician to join our EVQ team. The Battery Technician supports the electrochemical evaluation and quality (EVQ) team in the assembly and testing of lithium-ion cells used to evaluate Nano One's cathode materials. This role involves hands-on laboratory work to ensure cathode materials are accurately and consistently assessed through standardized cell assembly and testing protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in electrode preparation and coin cell fabrication for electrochemical testing of cathode materials
  • Work within glovebox and dry room environments to maintain the integrity of moisture-sensitive materials during cell assembly
  • Follow standardized cell assembly and testing procedures to ensure reproducibility across experiments
  • Operate battery testing equipment including cyclers to conduct formation, cycling, rate capability, and other electrochemical tests
  • Record data accurately and maintain detailed logbooks, batch documentation, and databases
  • Follow Nano One’s safety policies and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of SOPs, safety protocols, and maintenance plans
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support scale-up and production objectives

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar field or equivalent laboratory experience
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory, pilot plant or manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Hands-on experience with tools, laboratory apparatus, and analytical or process equipment
  • Basic understanding of lithium-ion battery concepts, electrochemistry, or cathode materials is an asset
  • Previous experience in lithium-ion, fuel cells or other battery chemistry testing would be an asset
  • Organized and detail-oriented individual with a focus on safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
