Location: Our office is located at 340 Gerrard St. E.,Toronto, Ontario, however, this position can be based anywhere in Canada with flexible / hybrid / and remote work arrangements available

Hiring Range: $74,000 - $79,000 per annum

The Opportunity The Indigenous Network Manager is a relational leader and facilitator who practices cultural humility and shared leadership, with a passion for designing conversations and resources that support collaboration and shared learning across organizations. The Indigenous Network Manager is a thoughtful, creative, passionate individual who is excited to share their cultural and personal perspectives and ideas, and who enjoys finding ways to create space for others to share their stories.
This position is situated as a key member of a supportive team that works hard to create a space in which all voices are heard. As a team we’re committed to learning from each other as a continuous process, and making adaptations to the way we work, to better support our partners, as an integral part of our success.
Working within Right To Food’s Programs Department, the Indigenous Network Manager, in collaboration with our Knowledge Exchange team, will coordinate the activities of the Indigenous Network, and contribute to content development, facilitation and partner support within the broader Good Food Organizations program, a network of over 450 Good Food Organizations and Community Food Centres working on food security programming across Canada.
The Network Manager will work in collaboration with Right To Food Program staff to coordinate regular virtual meet ups and gatherings, develop resources including profiling network stories, compile Indigenous food program materials, build new relationships and complete program evaluation.
The Indigenous Network, which began in 2018, continues to grow, and currently has participation from organizations across our network who offer Indigenous led food security programs. The Indigenous Network is co-created with Right To Food and its membership. As a non-Indigenous organization, Right To Food recognizes our unique role in supporting a wide range of Indigenous-led and serving programs. We are committed to meeting organizations where they are at, offering diverse program options to foster reconciliation and resurgence.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Indigenous Network activities including designing virtual and in person learning and knowledge exchange, identifying speakers, facilitating conversations and capturing and reporting back on stories and content
  • Develop Indigenous focused program profiles and resources to share on our dedicated online space for Good Food Organizations and Community Food Centres staff.
  • Coordinate evaluation of network activities in consultation with network members, and advise Right To Food on opportunities to strengthen and advance the Indigenous Network activities
  • Coordinate evaluation of network activities using methods and frameworks that explicitly center Indigenous communities’ priorities and ways of knowing in collaboration Right To Food’s Research and Evaluation team
  • Collaborate with Right To Food Knowledge Exchange staff to design and implement engaging and content rich online training, short courses and webinars for our Community Food Centre and Good Food Organization partners
  • Supporting training, facilitation and partner engagement with Right To Food’s 18 Community Food Centre partners
  • Support grant making processes, grantee stewardship and convening for Right To Food granting programs dedicated to and/or prioritizing Indigenous-led and Indigenous-serving food programming.
  • Plan, research, and write or create (audio/visual) concise and compelling learning resources (e.g. blogs/articles, program profiles) that profile promising programs/practices and leaders within the community food security sector
  • Align with Right To Food values and contribute to the evolution of our culture, and a work environment that is grounded in Relationship, Integrity, Courage and Equity.

Qualifications (Experience, Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Experience working in Indigenous community based programming or networks
  • First hand knowledge of the protocols and procedures to develop relationships with Indigenous Elders, leaders and knowledge keepers
  • Understanding of poverty, health, and Indigenous and Northern issues as they relate to food security
  • Experience in facilitating community-based/non-profit organizations in online meetings and in-person gatherings
  • Demonstrated experience with developing training and learning resources in a variety of media (print, video, and web resources; virtual and in-person training) using adult education principles
  • Knowledge of a range of community-based food programs
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Identifies as a member of an Indigenous community (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples)
  • Digital fluency and adaptability, with the capacity to navigate evolving tools, systems, and workflows in a fast-paced organizational context.
  • Clear alignment with Right To Food’s mission, values, and equity commitments, including cultural humility and an understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppression principles.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and reconciliation, through professional practice, leadership approach, community engagement, lived experience, and/or continuous learning
