Agency Overview Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region (WCSWR) empowers and supports women* and children to move beyond violence by providing safe shelter, outreach services, prevention and education. We operate two shelters: Anselma House in Kitchener and Haven House in Cambridge. Our facilities operate on a 24/7 basis, and we pride ourselves in being more than shelter. We also offer a robust region-wide outreach support program which supports families who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. Position Overview The Prevention and Outreach Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operational support of the Outreach Program. Reporting to the Outreach Manager, this position provides leadership, coaching, and guidance to Outreach Workers and supports the continuous improvement of outreach service delivery across Waterloo Region. The Outreach Supervisor works closely with the Outreach Manager to ensure effective, accountable, and high-quality support is provided to women and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence. We are looking for a trustworthy, competent, and professional individual who is self-directed, has the courage of their convictions, and maintains a strong focus on client service and feminist practice. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, a commitment to the agency's mission, and be eager to apply their leadership skills in a dynamic, community-based environment. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to Outreach Workers, including the Youth Education program, as well as within prevention and public education efforts • Coach and mentor Outreach Workers to support professional growth and high-quality service delivery • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture • Assist with orientation and onboarding of new Outreach Workers, placement students, and volunteers • Support the Outreach Manager and the Relief and Prevention Programs Manager in performance management processes, including informal feedback and formal supervision • Act as a first point of contact for staff questions, concerns, and day-to-day operational issues
Program Operations• Assist with oversight of Outreach referrals and case assignments in coordination with the Outreach Manager • Monitor service delivery to ensure alignment with the agency's feminist, anti-racism/anti-oppression framework • Support the development and maintenance of program accountability systems and quality assurance mechanisms • Ensure staff maintain client files in accordance with agency policies and procedures • Assist with the review and revision of policies, procedures, and program documentation as required • Monitor and follow up on program statistics and client satisfaction surveys
On-Call & Crisis Response • Participate in an ongoing rotating On-Call schedule as required • Provide direction and support to staff during on-call hours, including high-risk or complex situations • Report high-risk situations, safety/security concerns, client and staff grievances, and serious occurrences to the Outreach Manager in a timely manner • Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations
Administrative Duties • Perform administrative and managerial duties as assigned by the Outreach Manager • Attend and actively participate in Service Leaders meetings and agency meetings as required • Maintain current certification in CPR, First Aid, AODA, and WHMIS • Adhere to and ensure compliance with Sections 25, 26 & 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Community & Organizational Responsibilities • Represent WCSWR professionally in the community and maintain a positive agency profile • Maintain current knowledge of community resources throughout Waterloo Region • Assist in promoting all agency programs and public education initiatives as required • Advocate for clients and the agency as appropriate • Adhere to and model the agency's philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures • Travel between locations in Kitchener and Cambridge as required Skills and Qualifications Education• BSW and/or MSW from a university of recognized standing; MSW preferred, or a commitment to pursuing MSW while in the position • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or commitment to attaining membership
Experience & Skills• Minimum two to three years of experience in the violence against women (VAW) sector, with demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience considered an asset • Thorough knowledge of advocacy, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning based on the needs of abused women and their children • In-depth feminist analysis of violence against women and a solid understanding of anti-racism and antioppressive frameworks • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff; strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills • Knowledge of conflict resolution practices, negotiation techniques, and the ability to facilitate meetings • Strong organizational, time management, and priority-setting skills; ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment • Current and informed knowledge of diverse groups of women and children, including those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ identities, mental health issues, trauma histories, and addictions • Current knowledge of basic criminal and family law, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and related legal issues • Sound knowledge of community resources throughout Waterloo Region • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office • Valid Ontario driver's license, valid and sufficient insurance coverage, and access to a reliable vehicle
