Job Description — Technical Designer The Technical Designer is responsible for developing and managing all technical design documentation required for production. This role works closely with design, sales, production, and overseas suppliers to ensure all technical packages are accurately executed from development through production.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed technical packages including sketches, BOMs, construction details for overseas suppliers.
- Prepare production-ready artwork files including AOPs and repeat layouts
- , screen prints, embroideries, and appliqués.
- Modify artwork as needed to ensure production feasibility while maintaining design intent.
- Create and maintain color cards, fabric swatches, and trim presentation packages.
- Maintain organized libraries of technical sketches, artwork files, fabrics, trims, and color standards.
- Participate in fit sessions to review garment construction, fit, functionality, and trim details prior to production.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a Technical Design role within the apparel industry.
- Diploma or Degree in Fashion Design
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and apparel production processes.
- Experience preparing technical packages and production-ready artwork for apparel manufacturing.
- Experience working with AOPs, print repeats, screen prints, embroidery layouts, and artwork preparation is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel.
