Position Overview
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates of probable costs for materials, labour, and equipment for construction and industrial projects using contract bids, quotations, drawings, and specifications.
- Apply tendering procedures, analyze bids, recommend award decisions, and support negotiation activities.
- Establish and maintain tendering processes, including cost monitoring and reporting systems.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements, forecasts, and progress updates throughout project lifecycles.
- Liaise with engineers, architects, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to validate scope, resolve discrepancies, and assess cost impacts.
- Conduct economic feasibility reviews for design changes and cost adjustments.
- Coordinate construction project activities and prepare construction progress schedules.
- Leverage cost estimator experience to enhance cost accuracy, risk assessment, and procurement alignment for complex industrial projects.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or a diploma in engineering technology is required
- Several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade, such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical, are required
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment
- Detail-oriented with a passion to create high-quality deliverables
