What We DoThere has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. As a health authority, you will work in a unique setting where you have the opportunity to care for patients in all phases of their life journey, in all areas of their health experience. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. We provide community-based programming in all six of our communities, have six paramedic bases, three hospitals, four emergency departments, one community health centre and a total of 72 beds. - Understanding of community-based participatory research and program evaluation principles
- Ability to contribute nursing expertise and clinical insight within defined scope of practice to support program and research activities
- Knowledge of chronic disease prevention, health promotion, and population health approaches
- Knowledge of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and Indigenous-informed approaches to health and wellness
- Exceptional critical thinking and strategic awareness to support effective project implementation and adapt to changing circumstances, including shifting program priorities or funding requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex concepts clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, including leadership and community partners
What You’ll Do
- Support community-based participatory research and program evaluation activities related to chronic disease prevention and wellness initiatives
- Assist with implementation of women’s health, cervical cancer prevention, chronic disease prevention, and other special projects under direction of Director
- Support knowledge translation activities such as presentations, summaries, and sharing findings with communities and partners
- Participate in community meetings and engagement activities alongside program leads
- Support Indigenous-led and community-driven approaches under guidance
- Apply nursing knowledge and a population health approach in project activities
- Provide health education and nursing support within scope of practice
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Diploma or bachelor’s in nursing
- Registered with College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing
- Minimum two years of experience working in a healthcare setting
- Experience with research, program evaluation, data collection, or quality improvement activities is considered an asset
- Experience supporting or coordinating projects, initiatives, or programs in a healthcare or public health environment
- Experience in working with culturally diverse clientele
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- ·Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset
