Job DescriptionWe are looking for an individual who has a well-rounded background in Wordpress development; someone who is great at themes (and child themes) structures, able to develop themes, and manage plugins with an understanding of the plugin API and its effects from hooks system (filters and actions).

Work Experience

• You have 1+ years of development experience in a professional setting.
• You've worked with teams, or perhaps you're a solo artist, but you love to collaborate.
• Strong team working skills, demonstrating ability to collaborate and lead.
• Ability to multi-task, and be self directed.
• Desired, but not required: knowledge of the regulated space (cannabis, alcohol, pharmaceuticals).
• Experience creating production estimates and defining scopes for projects in conjunction with your team.
• Experience running QA on projects is helpful, and ensuring documentation is provided for production and support.

PHPMinimum of PHP 7.

• Understanding of the language syntax
• Understanding features such as namespacing, classes, and type system
• Follow best practices and SOLID principles
• Ability to read core documentation from PHP.net

Wordpress

• Understanding of themes and child theme structure
• Ability to understand structure
• Ability to create and maintain themes
• Understanding of plugin API system such as hooks (filters and actions)
• Understanding of custom post types and how to use and register them
• Familiarity of installing and maintaining Wordpress and Wordpress hosting platforms
• WPEngine (bonus) and like-services
• Understanding of Wordpress blocks (bonus)

Javascript

• Understanding of types, objects, functions, factory functions/classes, etc
• Proper understanding of flow control and guard/clauses
• Ability to produce and understand SOLID code
• Able to utilize and understand NPM
• Produce modern and clean code
• Keep up-to-date with the best practices
• Able to utilize browser tools/code to test and debug
• Utilize linters (bonus)

Styling & UI

• Comfortable with supersets (SASS/SCSS)
• Experience converting visual designs created by designers to HTML with an acute eye for detail
• An understanding of semantic markup and impacts to SEO
• Understanding of targeting, classes, IDs, and their differences as well as their priorities
• Able to create clean easy-to-follow styles with utilization of macros/mixins/variables where possible
• Able to utilize browser tools/code to test and debug
• Utilize linters (bonus)

Version controlAble to utilize Git through command line interface (CLI) for the following:

• Create and manage pull requests
• Push/pull code effectively
• Utilize branches effectively and often
• Solve merge conflicts and understand raw diffs
• Understanding of tagging
