As we continue to build our team, we strive for all members of the Serendipity organization to feel they have the power to define their role within the company while being supported to meet and exceed their limits and aspirations.
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accountant will join our existing team of accountants to provide accounting and bookkeeping support in a rapidly growing start-up environment to do and/or support all tasks of the accounting and finance functions.
What you will do and support:
  • Day-to-day full cycle accounting
  • Journal entries in the general ledger and the subledgers
  • Basic invoicing for payables and receivables
  • Account reconciliations for bank and credit card accounts
  • Maintain ledgers, pay bills and collect receivables
  • Intercompany accounting
  • Period end accounting and reporting including preparing and/or reviewing financial statements on a timely basis
  • Year-end accounting and reporting for both internal and external users
  • Statistical, financial and accounting reports
  • Supporting and reviewing work of other finance team members (peer reviews)
  • Complete ad-hoc requests and analysis as required

What you should bring:
  • 3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; bonus points if you have experience working in public practice
  • Completion of college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite, DropBox and Zoom/Teams
  • Effective electronic file management skills, including filing and storing records - often cloud based (MS Office)
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Netsuite and/or Xero would be an asset
  • Experience following up with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors
  • Proficient knowledge of best practices
  • Ability to independently manage tasks and time in an environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, planning, and organizational skills with a keen sense towards detail
