Posting No. 21-10-193Life Skills Worker, Part-Time, Overnights - Extraordinary Needs Program (ENP)24 hours per week SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Life Skills Worker is part of a team supporting people who live in our group homes and are experiencing mental health and addiction issues to enable them to fulfill their goals identified in their individualized support plan. Life Skills Workers provide support to the individuals we serve in the areas of supportive counseling, crisis intervention and prevention, skills development (life skills, social skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills), vocational and leisure support. In addition, the Life Skills Worker will assist and/or provide practical support with cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene, medication support, financial management and budgeting. HOURS OF WORKThis position is part-time, working 24 hours per week. This position is scheduled for overnight shifts (12:00am – 8:00am) Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Salary Range: $23.10-27.54 What we have to offer:Paid Sick Time Vacation timeRRSP plane after 24 months6% pay out in lieu of benefits after 3 monthsAnnual pay increaseEmployee Assistance ProgramOpportunities for growth and advancement ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS· Minimum of a relevant University Degree or College Health Sciences/Social Services Diploma preferred or in the process of obtaining a degree or diploma. Students welcome to apply.· 1-2 years of experience in a community mental health setting working with adults with complex mental health and / or addictions concerns preferred.· Excellent organizational, oral and written skills.· Demonstrated ability to respect rights and personal preference in treatment, rehabilitation and support including the Recovery Model.· Building rapport, assessment, crisis de-escalation, conflict management, professionalism.· Certification in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and suicide risk assessment preferred.· Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic record keeping and data collection systems.· Able to successfully complete and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
