Job Description
In the role of Director, Credit Execution ("DCE"), you are principally responsible for managing credit and operational risk across industry-specific commercial and junior corporate loan portfolios within the Financial Institutions team and the Seniors Housing & Healthcare, Project & Infrastructure Finance, and Toronto & Atlantic Diversified team. You are a subject matter expert with the ability to analyze and understand complex credit proposals, including multi-lender and structured financing situations, and to adapt your analysis to the distinct risk profiles, business models and transaction structures of each coverage group.
You anticipate and assess the risks associated with entering into and maintaining lending relationships under a wide range of economic and industry scenarios. You ensure that solicitor-prepared loan agreements and related credit documentation are relevant, supportive and competitive for the Bank and its clients on an ongoing basis. You assess, analyze and perform due diligence in support of credit applications, approve credits within delegated limits and make recommendations on all other applications.
You maintain a strong working relationship with TD’s risk management partners and apply a sound understanding of the Bank’s risk models, pricing platforms and credit policies. You exercise judgment in reconciling policy requirements with the specialized considerations of financial institutions, seniors housing and healthcare, project and infrastructure finance, and diversified commercial borrowers, and you escalate material risks and exceptions appropriately.
Recognizing that your credibility and influence are grounded in well-crafted credit proposals and sound risk recommendations, you make the development of Associates’ and Associate Directors’ risk evaluation skills a primary priority. Through active coaching, review and mentorship, you build consistent credit execution capabilities across both teams while supporting the specialized knowledge required for each portfolio.
You establish yourself as a trusted business leader who is sought out for guidance on credit facilities that support clients’ business strategies. You contribute to each team’s business development objectives by recommending credit packaging alternatives and actively discussing credit solutions with internal TD partners, external professional advisors and other lenders, as appropriate. You are comfortable operating in a collaborative environment and balancing prudent risk management with the Bank’s business-building objectives.
