Job Description:

Department Overview.

The Franchise Banking Group is a dynamic team responsible for delivering competitive products and services to franchisee customers of TDBFG. The Franchise Banking Group reports into the Commercial Advisory Service team within TD Business Banking and is responsible for growing the Bank's Franchise Banking portfolio with high-quality franchise systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit & Business Initiatives, Franchise Banking, the credit analyst has the responsibility to ensure that credit quality of the overall franchise portfolio at TD remains within TD's risk appetite.

The Analyst, Franchise Banking supports the Bank’s franchise programs with franchisors that are considered large commercial or junior corporate clients, spanning all industry sectors with the portfolio of franchise customers domiciled in both Small Business and Commercial segments. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Credit & Business Initiatives, Franchise Banking.

The Analyst is responsible for:

  • Completing both new and annual program credit reviews, structuring programs to reflect Bank lending requirements (both Small Business and Commercial), risk appetite, and customer and franchisor needs.
  • Monitoring and analyzing portfolio and franchise-system performance using Power BI dashboards and management reporting to identify emerging risks, negative trends, exceptions, concentrations, and opportunities, and providing decision-ready insights and recommendations to management.
  • Maintaining the franchise database, Power BI dashboards, and recurring management reporting, including performing data validation, reconciliation, and quality-control activities to ensure information is accurate, complete, and reliable.
  • Developing and enhancing Excel-based tools, models, macros, and other automated solutions to improve the efficiency and accuracy of credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, and reporting, while maintaining appropriate procedures and controls.
  • Working with franchisors, franchisees, branches, and internal partners to resolve inquiries, address issues, and deliver timely, consistent service and reporting.
  • Participating in franchisor visits and assisting the Origination Team in cross selling the full range of products and services to existing and new franchisors.
  • Supporting the submission and implementation of new policies and guidelines within the Franchise Banking Group.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in Commercial Credit, ideally as an Analyst or Account Manager; Small Business Banking credit experience would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-management skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to translate complex information and large datasets into meaningful business and risk insights.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and results-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including strong credit writing and the ability to present complex analysis and recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables and macros/VBA, together with proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Familiarity with Power BI dashboards and reporting would be viewed as an asset.
