We’re looking for a curious, relationship-focused and analytical individual who is excited to support Marketing category initiatives. Supporting the Marketing category across BMO, the Sourcing Associate leads sourcing activities and negotiations, acts as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on project deliverables, analyzes financial and supplier risk considerations, and applies category and market knowledge to deliver value, manage cost and reduce supplier risk.

What You'll DoBusiness Partnership & Advisory
  • Build relationships with Marketing stakeholders and develop an understanding of their business needs, priorities and expectations.
  • Provide practical sourcing advice and guidance, translating business requirements into clear sourcing approaches and recommendations.
  • Communicate recommendations, decisions, risks and results clearly to stakeholders and leaders.
  • Support the planning and implementation of sourcing and operational initiatives across the Marketing portfolio.
Sourcing Strategy & Execution
  • Manage sourcing initiatives across the lifecycle with moderate independence, including RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, contract support, negotiations and renewals.
  • Work with stakeholders and category leaders to identify sourcing opportunities and develop supplier selection approaches and negotiation strategies.
  • Conduct market assessments, supplier research and spend analysis to identify opportunities, preferred suppliers and relevant market trends.
  • Develop project plans, maintain accurate and current project reporting, and keep key stakeholders informed of progress, decisions and issues.
  • Manage multiple sourcing projects at the same time, balancing competing priorities and resolving issues within established guidelines.
  • Apply disciplined procurement methodologies, systems and policies throughout the sourcing lifecycle.
Supplier Value & Risk
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to create value, identify savings, improve commercial outcomes and support innovation.
  • Incorporate applicable Supplier Risk requirements into sourcing activities.
  • Support due diligence and contract development in collaboration with Legal, Risk and other control partners, as required.
  • Use market knowledge and supplier insights to inform recommendations and strengthen commercial decisions.
Data-Driven Insights & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct analysis and develop business cases, insights and recommendations aligned with project and category objectives.
  • Use Excel, sourcing systems, reports and dashboards to track project progress, pipeline, performance measures and opportunities.
  • Synthesize information from multiple sources and turn it into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Stay current on procurement practices, sourcing methodologies and Marketing supply-market trends.
  • Bring a continuous-improvement mindset by identifying better ways to work, strengthening sourcing practices and supporting change initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in sourcing and related roles (incl. supply chain, vendor management, contract negotiation, procurement, etc.) and/or marketing roles with experience working with external vendors, with a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Marketing category or marketing services sourcing experience is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, influence, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort using data to make recommendations and working with moderate independence on sourcing projects, while seeking guidance when needed.
  • Experience managing initiatives, including projects such as competitive events and supplier contract negotiations.
  • Proficiency in negotiation, opportunity analysis, contract support and project delivery.
  • Excel and spreadsheet analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize data and draw actionable insights.
  • Financial services, financial management or cost management is an asset.

Salary:

$55,500.00 - $120,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
