Position Overview:
The Cutting Room Supervisor will report to the Production Manager and follow the cutting priorities set by the Production Manager. Responsibilities include communicating daily cutting requirements to the cutting and spreading operators, based on marker guidelines and cutting specifications. Also, provide daily direction and supervision to the Cutting Department.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitors Cutting Schedule and plans to produce cuts according to dates and fabric availability
- Supervises Cutting Room Operators; is main point of contact for inquiries
- Works with Marker Making to ensure accuracy and efficiency of marker
- Spread and cut lays according to markers provided by Marker Making and by Cutting Orders
- Cut samples and any special cutting requests for Product Engineering or management
- Verifies quality of issued fabric and informs QA of any issues
- Responds to inquiries from Production Manager
- Looks for ways to increase efficiency on an ongoing basis
- Maintains daily records of spreading and cutting
- Inform Warehouse of POs needed for fabric order pick in a timely manner
Let's Talk About You
- Diploma or Equivalent in a Garment Manufacturing Technology or related experience
- Minimum 5-7 years’ of experience managing a cutting department in an apparel manufacturing environment
- Strong planning and organization skills required to maintain a constant flow of work, and to achieve consistent production results
- Effective interpersonal skills to be able to manage and motivate workers
- Familiar with a range of cutting equipment including equipment used for spreading manual and automated, and cutting, manual and computerized
- Ability to work independently
- Strong initiative to consistently meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on a daily/regular basis
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work in a noisy factory environment
- Open to challenges and change
