The person in this position will work as a member of the Portfolio Management team within the Real Estate Financing Group. The successful candidate will assist the Portfolio Manager in managing and monitoring a portfolio of loans which may include real estate development loans and commercial mortgages secured by real estate assets located across Canada. The position will work closely with loan originators located in any one of the group's offices in Canada (Toronto or Vancouver). More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Prepare and maintain financial models that analyze property or project cash flows and capital stacks in order to properly assess the financial risks associated with a property or project financing
  • Perform regular monitoring of loans in the assigned portfolio, including annual reviews, property inspections/site visits, monthly progress draws for construction loans, and generally ensuring all conditions of the loan are being respected by the borrower
  • Attend to minor amendments or changes initiated by the borrower or required by the lender, after the loan has been funded, as directed by the Portfolio Manager in consultation with the origination team
  • Assist the origination team in the preparation of term sheets/discussion papers to be presented to clients/prospects on the financing offer
  • Assist the origination team in completing due diligence and review of property/project documents (such as appraisals, environmental reports, building condition reports, cost consultant reports, insurance consultant reports, shareholder/partnership agreements) and loan documentation (credit agreement, guarantees, security documents)
  • Carry out various tasks as part of promotional campaigns for the unit's activities. Take part in public relations activities and be present in business circles
  • Any other activities and functions delegated by the Portfolio Manager or the national team leader.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of three years of a relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
