Business Management

Provides subject matter expertise in the design, development, effective integration and implementation of Customer Tax Programs impacting Personal & Business Banking (P&BB) (e.g., programs impacting multiple products lines, multiple LOBs, enterprise) to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements on time and efficiently. Supports management & execution by integrating across all impacted stakeholders (business, technology, Legal, Risk & Compliance, first, second- and third-line functions, corporate area, etc.) to coordinate, collaborate and manage risk to successfully deliver against deadlines. Oversees the execution of project components by ensuring that solutions reflect regulatory requirements, current business strategy and supports the desired customer/employee experience. Drives to mitigate execution risk though deep understanding of business/group challenges and facilitating communication with program/project managers and stakeholders efficiently and effectively to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Integrate and coordinate regulatory change from a business perspective, across the enterprise for P&BB.
  • Drive against project milestones to ensure regulatory requirements on time; on raising risks to leadership when necessary
  • Consult with Legal, Risk, & Compliance to determine regulatory applicability to BMO’s businesses.
  • Opine on the design and development of a solution and control function; owned by first line of defense.
  • Ensure robust Monitoring and Controls are designed and developed within the project to ensure successful transition to BAU and enabling BMO’s ongoing management of associated risks; owned by first line of defense.

Advisory

  • Provide strategic input to solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of:
  • Relevant regulations and policies pertaining to FATCA/CRS Requirements the Income Tax Act (Parts XVIII / XIX), Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), CRA Guidance on the Common Reporting Standard
  • Sections of the Income Tax Act pertaining to issuance of tax slips (Part II – Information Returns) and associated CRA Guidance
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group
  • Develops an understanding of business/group challenges
  • Integrates across multiple, various business units, LOBs, etc. to orchestrate and effectively deliver Customer Tax programs/projects
  • Identifies enablers and key issues prior to and during implementation, raises issues with stakeholders and offers solutions to resolve issues or risks that jeopardize delivery

Strategy / Strategic Initiatives

  • Provides guidance ensuring regulatory requirements and program objectives are achieved and effectively integrated across P&BB
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve project objectives
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making

Relationship Management

  • May network with industry contacts to gather and identify competitive insights and best practices.

Data/Analytics

  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues

Comms/Change Management

  • Supports and partners with change management lead of varying scope and type to ensure success of delivery

Operational Management

  • Understands project interdependencies and demonstrates critical thinking that proactively identifies project risks and establishes effective risk mitigation from the outset
  • Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of and problem-solving ability for issues within the business/group.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, project delivery practices and standards across the project lifecycle - In-depth.

Salary:

$70,000.00 - $150,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
