The Platform Engineering, Senior Specialist will bring deep experience operating enterprise-grade API Gateway, Ingress/Egress, and platform infrastructure capabilities. This role focuses on enabling secure, scalable, and observable service exposure for internal and external consumers, while supporting the underlying platform services that handle traffic management, security enforcement, and telemetry aggregation.This is a hands-on engineering role, with exposure across infrastructure domains (compute, networking, storage, databases) and collaboration with both internal teams and external vendors/service providers to ensure platform reliability, integration, and alignment with enterprise strategy.What You Will DoAPI Gateway & Traffic Management Platforms- Deploy and operate enterprise API gateway and ingress solutions to expose and manage services securely.
- Support multiple deployment models (managed, hybrid, containerized, or VM-based).
- Provide routing, authentication, authorization, and traffic policy enforcement.
- Implement API policies such as:
- Rate limiting
- Authentication / authorization
- Request/response transformation
- Traffic shaping and control
- Manage platform lifecycle (configuration, scaling, certificates, upgrades).
- Integrate with enterprise identity providers and certificate management systems.
- Troubleshoot north-south traffic flows between external consumers and internal services.
- Build and operate modern application platforms (container-based or equivalent).
- Manage platform lifecycle, upgrades, and stability using controlled rollout strategies.
- Support ingress/egress configuration and secure service exposure.
- Enable secure service-to-service communication (e.g., zero-trust, mTLS concepts).
- Implement traffic management patterns like routing, canary deployments, and progressive delivery.
- Administer enterprise OS and supporting platform services.
- Support databases (relational/distributed) including upgrades, scaling, and recovery.
- Manage patching and ensure platform stability and software currency.
- Validate platform changes across environments to reduce production risk.
- Maintain and improve monitoring, logging, and tracing capabilities.
- Tune alerts and dashboards to improve signal quality.
- Support capacity planning and performance management.
- Support incident response and root cause analysis across platform layers.
- Maintain high availability aligned to SLA/SLO targets.
- Execute changes using controlled rollout and rollback strategies.
- Work within structured change management frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and operational standards.
- Support onboarding of new services and partners to platform capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
- Experience with:
- API gateway / ingress technologies
- Container platforms or modern hosting environments
- Networking fundamentals (L4/L7, TLS, traffic flows)
- Automation-first mindset:
- Scripting (Python, Bash, etc.)
- CI/CD or GitOps workflows
- Familiarity with cloud and SaaS services (identity, messaging, etc.).
- Experience with observability tools (monitoring, logging, alerting).
- Strong understanding of:
- Security fundamentals (auth, certs, encryption)
- Distributed systems & reliability
- Experience operating in structured production and change-managed environments.
- Experience with enterprise API gateway platforms in regulated or high-availability environments
- Familiarity with service mesh or advanced traffic management patterns
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes-based environments)
- Exposure to identity and access management concepts (OAuth, OIDC, token flows)
- Experience supporting platform migrations or modernization initiatives (on-prem → cloud or hybrid)
- Exposure to high-volume transaction or payments ecosystems
