THE POSITION

This position will report directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting. The Financial Analyst will provide support to the financial reporting group as well as various overhead departments within the Corporation. This individual will work closely with other accounting functions and operational groups to forecast, analyze, and report financial results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record various month end transactions and accruals based on financial information from the month;
  • Reconcile intercompany transactions for the legal and operating entities and confirm balances with other Dexterra Group entities;
  • Preparation of monthly Financial Reporting package as formalized;
  • Coordination and consolidation of budgets and forecasts, including consolidating entries and balance sheet components;
  • Ensure compliance with and maintain internal controls documentation;
  • Identify areas in need of improvement and recommend/implement corrective actions;
  • Conduct IFRS research and complete documentation as required;
  • Liaise with and be the main point of contact for the external auditors;
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual Financial Statement and MD&A preparation;
  • Develop and refine month-end processes to streamline procedures and create efficiencies which enable timely and accurate financial reporting;
  • Work closely with accounting groups to ensure monthly transactions are captured in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Assist the Manager with ad-hoc reporting and special projects.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The successful candidate will possess with following education and experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience
  • Completion of an Accounting Degree and completion of (or working towards) a recognized professional designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA).

The successful candidate will possess the following required skills and abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, changing priorities and firm deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail needed; A results-oriented team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within all levels of the organization;
  • Solid IT and systems skills including the use of ERP systems and financial models. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently; and
  • Knowledge of NetSuite, Onestream, and/or Wdesk would be considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office environment with a flexible work schedule, potentially requiring work on evenings and weekends. Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
