Senior Proving Technician

The principal role of the Senior Proving Technician is to be responsible for routine and ad hoc meter proving, while promoting a healthy and safe workplace and ensuring top performance and quality service. Please note that out-of-town and camp work are requirements.

Interested candidates should have a strong mechanical background with skills in hauling and maintaining trailers and be comfortable working in isolated conditions. Additionally, they should be capable of evaluating and adjusting for process conditions. An oil and gas field operations background is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a 1-ton dually truck with 8,000 kg enclosed trailer; maintain a vehicle logbook and comply with Transport Canada regulations and company safety procedures
  • Perform routine bench and inline meter proving services across various meter types and flow conditions
  • Troubleshoot and maintain proving equipment and field instrumentation
  • Calibrate and verify product analyzers, including BS&W devices
  • Apply expertise in Coriolis, vortex, magnetic, and turbine meters, including associated electronics
  • Access and configure RTU, EFM, and PLC systems to retrieve or update K-Factors and meter data
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, such as P&IDs and measurement schematics, to support field execution
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as AER Directive 017 and BCER guidelines in all field operations
  • Support field project execution, including job scoping, estimating, analysis, and project close-out
  • Train and support junior technicians through mentorship and field-based guidance
  • Maintain field vehicle and equipment, including organization, routine maintenance scheduling, managing consumables, and coordinating equipment/materials pickups
  • Complete and submit accurate and timely documentation, including field tickets and reports, in alignment with company procedures
  • Contribute to the development and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) specific to job tasks

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of work experience, in field operations and upstream oil and gas facilities
  • Meter proving experienced required, including off-road driving and trailer hauling experience
  • Experience working safely in hazardous live oil and gas operations, such as near high-pressure lines and electrical systems.
  • Valid field safety certifications, e.g., H2S Alive, First Aid
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 operator's license (or equivalent) with demonstrated safe driving skills
  • Proficient Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Office, and comfortable using internal scheduling and operations software
  • Demonstrated client management and engagement capabilities
