JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Production Engineering Technologist, you will play a key role in designing and planning the processes, tools, and temporary systems required to build and deliver high-quality ships.
Working within the Production Engineering Shipyard team, you will focus on developing and coordinating temporary service solutions that enable safe and efficient production activities across new construction and ship repair initiatives.
This role requires strong collaboration across Production, Planning, Safety, Procurement, and Engineering teams to ensure temporary services are seamlessly integrated into work packages, schedules, and material readiness plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop temporary service plans (scaffolding, ventilation, access, power, lighting, safety systems) across ship construction scopes
  • Create and update layouts, drawings, and redlines for temporary openings and installations
  • Monitor production and incorporate lessons learned into continuous improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align plans with schedules and material readiness
  • Support constructability reviews and provide drafting assistance as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering degree or Engineering Technologist diploma
  • 2-5 years of shipbuilding, ship design, or heavy manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge of production planning, materials, and resource capacity
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and produce sketches/drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
