JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Project Manager of our Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship (AOPS) program, you are responsible for driving the successful delivery of assigned scope, ensuring all work is aligned with contractual requirements and the Statement of Work. You translate contract commitments into clear, actionable plans, proactively identifying challenges, uncovering root causes, and implementing strategic solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders. With a strong focus on performance, accountability, and results, you manage and track progress through to completion, ensuring execution meets quality, schedule, and contractual expectations. Working across a range of internal and external stakeholders, you play a central role in coordinating efforts, adapting to the size and complexity of the scope, and ensuring seamless delivery across the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead initiatives within Program Management based on input and direction from the AOPS Program Manager and the AOPS Program Director. Ensure a cohesive management structure to drive AOPS Program execution.
  • Ensure that the Program Management KPIs align with other key management processes, to ensure the AOPS Program is delivering value to the Customer in an efficient and cohesive manner.
  • Develop the communication methods of the Programs performance, complete with high-level processes, ensuring alignment with other AOPS Functional Departments leading to a cohesive management structure driving AOPS Program execution.
  • Review and development of Program performance reports, metrics and dashboards, including identification and coordination of other departments to deliver the data.
  • Lead on communication and engagements with internal and external stakeholders where it applies to performance management.
  • Support the Program Manager level ad-hoc initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree, in business administration, engineering or related discipline.
    • Considerable knowledge of project management principles; PMP designation an asset.
    • Continuous improvement certification (such as green/black belt) an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to apply core Project Management processes: scheduling, lean methodologies, budgeting and cost forecasting, performance tracking, risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in a project management position in defense/design/construction industries.
  • Knowledge in naval design or project build sectors, large scope national contracts or heavy industrial sectors considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills; energetic and results-focused.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
