JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cost Accounting Manager is accountable for leading the financial management activities at the Plant level. This position reports to the Cost Controller and will work closely with the Production Department, Quality Assurance Department, Health and Safety Department, Maintenance Department, Shipping and Logistics Department, Human Resources Department, Field Department, and employees.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a "can do" attitude to be responsible for all aspects of cost accounting, acting as a technical resource for the plant accounting team, operational staff, and analyzing plant costing information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leadership and performance management of direct reports.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and responsible for plant wider internal control.
- Working with Controller on preparing and presenting the site's annual budget.
- Working with Controller on reporting for the site's weekly and monthly forecast.
- Develop new product costing.
- Provide insights to leadership team on plant spending management.
- Identify opportunities and risks to help drive plant performance.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or working towards would be considered an asset.
- 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding and aptitude in cost accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment would be a strong asset.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong on technology with proven analytical skills using various tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
- Experience in leadership/management is an asset.
- Ability to be "hands-on" with a proven track record of being pro-active, taking initiative and working independently.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
