JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Corporate VP of Environment, Health and Safety & Sustainability for J.D. Irving Moncton-based businesses, the Manager, Disability Management and Workers' Compensation position leads the Disability Management program and resources in delivering care and cost-effective solutions for occupational and non-occupational injury and illness management.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead disability management for the Moncton-based businesses, including leadership of the team of Disability Managers across divisions.
  • Execute process improvement with division and site stakeholders to improve and reduce the total cost of disability and reduce the duration of loss to achieve specific goals.
  • Monitor leading and lagging KPIs and provide strategic guidance to customers and Disability Managers to improve performance.
  • Provide training and onboarding curriculum and guidance to customers for them to be able to comply with business process requirements from initiation through return to work.
  • Provide strategies to facilitate solutions for complex and long-term cases to achieve cost effective outcomes and provide our employees with the ability to return to sustainable work wherever possible.
  • Communicate claim and trend information to Senior Leadership Teams in various business levels across the broader organization. Assist them in understanding the analysis of results so that they can promote improved behaviors to mitigate human and financial cost.
  • Co-manage the platform and integrity of the disability management software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-Secondary Education - University or College Degree in related field, e.g., Human Resources Management, Safety Management, or Health Science.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years' disability management experience.
  • Team leadership experience related to Environment, Health and Safety or related Human Resource equivalent.
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent is an asset.
  • Understanding of local, provincial and federal regulations surrounding workers' compensation.
  • Understand multi-jurisdictional complexity with varied benefit coverages across provinces and local workers' compensation.
  • Knowledge of short and long-term disability and other related benefits for non-occupational injury and illness.
  • Strong attention to detail and discipline to maintain confidentiality, accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS office
  • Preferred knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
