JOB DESCRIPTION
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking candidates for the role of Senior Accountant. This role is based with our Finance team in Saint John, New Brunswick and works closely with the Payroll team. You will play a key role in reviewing payroll liability accounts and processes to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the accounting for payroll within the organization. This role will also contribute to the review of other centralized functions such as fixed assets accounting and audit management.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Day to day leadership of the Payroll Accounting team
• Review payroll liability account reconciliations for accuracy, integrity, and timeliness
• Evaluate, analyze, and investigate payroll account variances
• Partner with operations and accounting on payroll forecasting and analysis
• Responsible for developing and maintaining adequate internal controls to mitigate risk
• Lead continuous and process improvements projects

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business or accounting
• CPA designation would be considered an asset
• 5+ years of relevant accounting work experience
• Strategic mindset with the ability to drive financial process improvements and challenge inefficiencies.
• Highly self-motivated, innately curious, and solutions focused
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with JD Edwards and/or Blackline considered an asset
