JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager, Accounting and Reporting supports the establishment of financial reporting standards and ensures appropriate implementation of accounting policies in according with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and J.D. Irving Ltd. group reporting framework. The role supports complex accounting standards, financial reporting, compliance and internal controls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise internally on the financial reporting impacts of contracts, operational decisions etc.
- Advise and estimate the impact of new reporting standards and principles on the financial statements of the Shipbuilding Division.
- Coordinate with corporate, external auditors, internal auditors, internal finance staff and other areas of operations impacting financial reporting.
- Assist to implement various Finance and corporate initiatives.
- Reviews period end journal entries and accruals while supporting the Director in the delivery of results to stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and Professional Qualification (e.g. CPA) required.
- Track record of post-qualification experience - generally 10 years including 4-7 years of people leadership experience.
- Application of accounting principles.
- Ability to translate financial reporting/finance language into plain/relevant to the audience language.
- Analytical skills.
- In depth knowledge of accounting principles.
- In depth knowledge/experience in financial reporting.
- Effective communication skills.
- Project/initiative management.
- Conflict resolution - team mentorship and management.
Due to the nature of work performed by Irving Shipbuilding, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
