JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Intermediate Technical Publications Specialist to support the development of S1000D-compliant technical manuals in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) format. In this role, you will work with structured XML data from a Common Source Database (CSDB), ensuring all publications meet established standards, customer requirements, and project timelines.
As part of the Technical Publications team, you will contribute to the evolution of Fleetway's S1000D solution by assisting in conceptual design, defining requirements, supporting user training, and maintaining business documentation. You will also review and validate technical content against business rules and Canadian specifications to ensure accuracy and consistency.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated technical communicator with a strong foundation in S1000D and a passion for delivering high-quality documentation in a collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Through the collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, the Technical Publications Specialist will:
- Maintain an understanding of the S1000D standard and its requirements for the production and generation of technical manuals from a common source database (CSDB)
- Create S1000D compliant technical manuals in Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) format
- Support the complete workflow process to ensure successful development and revisions of technical publications
- Comply with established quality processes to ensure accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Business or Related Field.
Experience:
- 2-5 years' experience in the application of S1000D and 5 years in a Technical Publications Environment.
- Proficient knowledge of S1000D and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals
- Knowledge of DND Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs) is an asset
Additional Requirements:
