Airport Maintenance (Summer Student)

Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Airport Maintenance – Summer Student

REPORTING TO: Airport Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position encompasses all aspects of grounds maintenance work, including grass cutting, landscaping and painting.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Cut grass, rake, weed, dethatch lawns, and other maintenance duties as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain lawns and grass along airport tarmac and runways.
• Operate and maintain push mowers, electric clippers, and other landscape maintenance equipment.
• Perform manual duties to clean and maintain airport equipment such as fuel bowser, and fuel tanks.
• Painting of equipment, runway lights and decking

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Experience:

Experience operating light grass cutting equipment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Good organizational skills

Scheduled working hours:

This is a full-time position. Work hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Personal Attributes:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying.

Exposure to extreme temperatures.

Compensation:

$19.76 per hour with 4% vacation pay
