THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION

Lennon House is seeking dedicated Addiction Recovery Peer Support Workers to join our residential recovery team. This role supports individuals rebuilding their lives from addiction by helping maintain a safe, structured, and recovery-focused residential environment where accountability, respect, and personal growth are central to daily life.

Peer Support Workers play an important role in supporting residents through the daily challenges of early recovery while maintaining the safety, stability, and integrity of the program.

All employees are required to sign a Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement and are expected to consistently demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and the highest standards of professional integrity.

This position involves 12-hour shifts (7:00p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) and includes rotating weekend coverage.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Peer Support Workers contribute to the recovery environment by:
  • Supporting residents in maintaining daily structure and accountability
  • Providing peer-based encouragement and recovery support
  • Maintaining a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented residential environment
  • De-escalating conflict and responding to emotionally difficult situations
  • Completing resident check-ins and documentation during shift
  • Conducting scheduled room checks and safety rounds
  • Documenting incidents, observations, or concerns in shift logs
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers and management
  • Responding appropriately to emergency situations when required
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector required
  • Valid driver's license and driver's abstract required
  • Staff are expected to demonstrate calm judgment, clear professional boundaries, and strong communication skills when working with residents.

This role requires a high degree of emotional maturity, personal accountability, and the ability to remain calm and grounded when supporting individuals experiencing distress, conflict, or crisis. Successful staff balance compassion with clear boundaries and consistency while supporting residents through the challenges of early recovery.

Preferred Certifications

Applicants with the following certifications will be given priority consideration:

  • First Aid & CPR
  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
  • NVCI / CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention)
  • Naloxone training
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Trauma-informed care training
  • Qualifications

We are seeking applicants who bring both compassion and professional preparation to this work.

Preferred backgrounds include education or training in:

  • Addictions Support Worker
  • Human Services / Community Services
  • Social Services Worker
  • Mental Health & Addictions programs
  • Nursing or Practical Nursing
  • Psychology or Behavioral Sciences
  • Peer Recovery Support programs
  • Lived experience in recovery is considered a strong asset.

Applicants in recovery must have a minimum of two years of continuous recovery and be actively engaged in a recovery community. Applicants must also demonstrate stability in their personal recovery and the capacity to support others without compromising their own wellbeing.

Successful applicants demonstrate strong personal boundaries, the ability to separate personal recovery from professional responsibilities, and a commitment to maintaining a stable and respectful recovery environment.
