Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic summer student! Are you entering or returning to Post Secondary Studies in the Fall of 2024? Are you looking for a fun summer job? Do you have lived experience as a Military/RCMP family member? If yes, we want to hear from you. Reporting to the Military Family Program Coordinator, the Community Engagement and Records Management Summer Student will research effective ways of increasing the community's awareness of the PEI Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) in addition to methods already in use. Recording statistics, managing our client database and aiding in scheduling PEI MFRC participation in parades, festivals and events throughout PEI. Must be willing to travel the province and wear the mascot costume as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Research/participate in festivals, parades and events on behalf of the PEI MFRC to promote community awareness;
  • Flexible work week (evenings and weekends as required);
  • Client records management and input;
  • Be willing to promote and wear our Mascot for special occasions;
  • Be creative and outgoing, working as part of the PEI MFRC team in building and maintaining our presence;
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with Public Health and Safety protocols, ensuring proper handling and care of all equipment and signage;
  • Act as an ambassador by promoting a positive community image of the MFRC; and
  • All other duties as assigned.

Must be able to:

  • Able to lift displays and program materials to assist with set up and take down;
  • Able to work evenings and weekends;
  • Willing and able to walk in parades while wearing a mascot costume;
  • Must be willing to travel throughout PEI in our vehicle, independently, and with other team members;
  • Must have a fun and enthusiastic personality;
  • Preference to communicate effectively in both official languages (English and French);
  • Assist other staff members in coordinating and participating in various special events;
  • Foster a positive relationship with co-workers and volunteers therefore respecting their commitment to MFRC programs and activities;
  • Act as an ambassador by promoting a positive community image of the MFRC.

Applicants must be a Post-Secondary Student entering or returning to studies in Fall 2024 and have the following skills:

  • Excellent communication skills in English (French is an asset);
  • Detail orientated and solution driven;
  • Self-motivated, team player, positive attitude, passion and commitment;
  • Willing to get your hands dirty and occasional heavy lifting;
  • Combines excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • Must be willing and able to work some evenings and most weekends;
  • Must be willing and able to wear a mascot costume and walk in parades;
  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record is mandatory;
  • Experience and knowledge of the Military/RCMP lifestyle is an asset.
