Job Description:

The Friends of the Charlottetown Library are hiring a Summer Reading Club Coordinator to assist with the delivery of the Summer Reading Club for children and teens. Under the supervision of the Children & Teen Services Librarian, the student will take part in organizing, creating and delivering programs and activities for children, teens and families. Activities will include puppet shows, storytimes, information programs and craft activities. Promotion of programs and library services will also be required. The Coordinator will create displays to promote library collections and will also be responsible for some public service, administrative duties and gathering of statistics. Outreach and some program activities take place in local parks and may include nearby communities.

Requirements

• Some post-secondary education
• Applicants must be entering or returning to full-time post-secondary education in the fall
• Good written, oral and social media communication skills
• Comfortable and proficient with technology including tablets, Chromebooks and desk top computers
• Comfortable with public speaking and good presentation skills
• Experience working with the public and with children
• Demonstrated organizations skills and ability to complete a summer-long project
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required
• Experience with designing posters and other promotional materials is an asset
• Evening and weekend hours required
