About the Job:

The Youth Mentoring Coordinator position at BBBS of Fredericton and Oromocto involves training with senior staff to learn how to mentor children who are in need of an additional adult developmental relationship. You will be responsible for planning and delivering Big Brothers Big Sisters community-based programs, such as Big Bunch and Fun While You Wait summer mentoring programs. Additionally, you will evaluate the success of individual and group mentoring programs offered during the summer months, as well as coordinate Go Girls and Game On group mentoring programs in local middle schools. You will also have the opportunity to develop and deliver presentations to encourage local elementary and middle schools to host in-school mentoring programs in 2024-25. In addition to these responsibilities, you will support various other activities of the Agency, including park BBQs for Bigs, Littles, and families, as well as help plan fundraising events.

A candidate (student) must:

  • Be a resident of New Brunswick (must have lived in New Brunswick for at least 6 months) or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;
  • Be eligible to work in Canada (must have a valid SIN number);
  • NOT be an immediate family member (spouse, children, parent, brother or sister) of the employer;
  • Be a high school student entering grade 10, 11, or 12 in September 2024; OR
  • Be a full-time Grade 12, university or college student in the current academic year of 2023-2024 AND attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2024.
