About Our Opportunity

As the Student Camping Park Attendant, you are responsible for assisting with the seasonal operation and maintenance of designated provincial camping parks.

Primary Accountabilities

Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and department policies and as an active participant in implementing the department Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Programs.

Qualifications and Experience

You are a student who is currently in high school (minimum grade 10) or a post-secondary education program and returning to school in the Fall or next applicable semester.
The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and to work independently is necessary for this role.
Experience in building and grounds maintenance; ride on mowers, push mowers, string trimmers and knowledge of cleaning methods and sanitation requirements.
Assets include a valid NS driver's license or equivalent, customer service training/experience; good general knowledge of local history and points of interest; knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and experience with internet, email, and web-based applications.

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Working Conditions

70 hours bi-weekly; Duties often require working irregularly scheduled hours, weekends, evenings and holidays. Must be willing to attend department training in duties related to this position.
This position requires the ability to work as part of a team and performs strenuous manual tasks in an outdoor environment.

Additional Information

This is a summer student employment opportunity at Taylor Head Provincial Park with an anticipated start date of June 24, 2024 - August 31, 2024.

Salary Range: $15.42 - $29.11 Hourly
