About the Role:

In this Associate level position, you will play a critical role in supporting the shaping and implementation of Loam's carbon methodology strategy, driving the development and adoption of high-quality soil carbon assets in both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. In a global capacity, you will grow to act as Loam's SME in the carbon methodology and protocol space, contributing to the formulation and execution of our strategy across offsetting and insetting channels. Reporting to the Director, Carbon Measurement & Technology as part of the Loam Carbon team, you will eventually work closely with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and methodology providers to ensure the success of Loam's Carbon Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior members of the Loam Carbon team in the development of Loam Bio's carbon methodology and strategy.
  • Learn from interactions with governments, regulators, and carbon registry providers to support Loam's mission of introducing high-quality soil carbon assets to the market.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of carbon removal methodologies in compliance and voluntary markets worldwide, keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Serve as an emerging SME in carbon methodology and protocol, aiding in the strategic direction and implementation of Loam's initiatives in carbon offsetting and insetting.
  • Foster and develop relationships with external methodology providers, helping to establish Loam as a credible and reliable partner.
  • Utilize analytical and communication skills to tackle complex issues, offering clear and impactful solutions.
  • Display a proactive attitude towards working within carbon market regulations, ensuring compliance and advocating for constructive changes.
  • Partner effectively with Loamies across different regions including Australia, North America, and Latin America.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters level degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Sustainability, Engineering, Climate Science, or similar fields; coursework or projects related to sustainability and carbon management preferred.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a knack for understanding and communicating complex data and concepts in an accessible manner.
  • The ability to learn, interpret, and simplify complex policy documents and contracts within the carbon market framework.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Previous experience in or a strong desire to learn about carbon market operations or related fields.
