The McGill University Department of Diagnostic Radiology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate's qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at McGill University is one of the oldest departments in North America. We are proud of our longstanding foundation of excellence in both clinical and educational activities. Our Residency Program is robust and recognized nationally and internationally. Our Fellowship Program is also very successful and attracts trainees from all over the world.

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Jewish General Hospital recently merged with Nuclear Medicine under Medical Imaging. About 180,000 exams (e.g., radiography, CT, US, MRI) are performed annually within the Department. The JGH recently expanded its footprint with the addition of Pavilion K and the hospital has over 600 beds.

The Jewish General Hospital (JGH) is a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada's internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.

Job Duties
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include clinical, teaching, and research activities within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, which consists of a dynamic group of fifteen fellowship trained radiologists supporting the JGH's mandate to provide high-quality patient-centered care.

The practice at the JGH consists of general radiology with specialized training and interpretation. The successful candidate must be able to interpret plain radiography, US, CT (including Cardiac Imaging), Virtual Colonography, breast imaging, and MRI exams (i.e., MSK, abdomen, Neuro/ENT, prostate, and Cardiac MRI).

The successful candidate is expected to participate in evening shifts, non-vascular interventional procedures, as well as on-call duties (e.g., IR and drainage call). The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all major oncology tumor boards (excluding ENT tumor boards) on a rotational basis.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of McGill's academic vision (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees.

McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:

  • Hold an MD degree, and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec;
  • Have completed subspecialty training as a radiologist in North America and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);
  • Have completed fellowship training in Abdominal/Body Imaging and Interventional Radiology;
  • Demonstrate excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research;
  • Additional clinical and/or research fellowships would be an asset;
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.
